HELEN L. DOWNING, Ed.D.

After earning her Doctorate degree from the University of Phoenix, Dr. Helen Downing retired from twenty years of service in New York State government and sought opportunities for freelance editing and editorial consulting.

Helen was the Senior Editor and a contributing writer for the MetroExchange, a monthly Harlem publication, and Senior Editor and contributing writer for Honey Child Magazine, a publication designed for America’s urban parents of color.  She has edited and helped to develop several manuscripts and has done extensive academic editing including dissertation editing for doctoral students at the University of Phoenix’s School of Advanced Studies.

Helen is currently the Content Editor for Gibson Consulting, a business development agency, where she is responsible for ensuring that submitted articles, blogs, contracts, business plans, and proposals are professionally reviewed, edited and revised, for coherence and logic.
